Granwood
Schools, Sports Halls, Offices, Factories, Laboratories, Community Halls and Village Halls.
Granwood flooring is a product made up of cement, sawdust, fillers and linseed oil, and compressed into a block shape.
Limestone
Residential, Churches, Banks, Schools.
Limestone is a sedimentary rock, and its primary ingredient is calcium carbonate (CaCaO3). Limestone is normally white, and has a matt sheen.
Linoleum
Non-allergenic Homes, Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities
Linoleum flooring is made solely from linseed oil, wood and cork flours and tree resin. Unlike vinyl, it is biodegradable and the pattern does not disappear with wear.
Resin
Schools, Operating Theatres, Engineering Sites, Kitchens, etc.
Resin coated flooring is simply a formulation of synthetic resins and hardeners, depending on usage the thickness of the flooring will increase.
Terrazzo
Hotels, Hospitals, Banks, Airports, Apartments, Schools, Theatre Foyers and Office Entrances.
A composite material made up of marble chippings and cement or epoxy resins that can be poured or set in preformed slabs or tiles.
Wood

To test the softness of the
wood, scrape your thumbnail against it, if it leaves a mark it’s
softwood. The deeper the mark - the softer the wood.
Vinyl

Village Halls, Restaurants, Public Buildings, Offices, Banks, Industrial.
Vinyl composition tile (VCT) is a finished flooring material, used primarily in commercial products sold since the early 1980s.
Quarry Tiles
Kitchens, Patios, Conservatories, Entrance Halls, Toilets, Factories.
Traditional quarry tiles were
unglazed and either red or grey, however, modern “decorator”
tiles come in a variety of tints and finishes.
Painted Concrete
Factories, Warehouses, Dwellings,
Garages, Multi-storey Car Parks.
If unpainted, colour is normally
grey. Concrete floors are normally painted to identify and highlight different areas such as walk-ways or production areas.
Marble
Banks, Hotels, Airports, Shopping Centres, Apartments, Restaurants.
Marble is shiny and very reflective when polished. If there are speckles or crystal-like markings, then it’s most likely to be granite. Marble has veins in a random pattern.
Pads

Floor machine pads are colour coded - from the least aggressive (white, for polishing) through tan, red, green and brown to the most aggressive (black, for heavy duty wet stripping).
